Hastings Point Waste Water Treatment Plant proposed changes
If you use the creeks, beaches and sea around Pottsville, Hastings Point and Bogangar/Cabarita you need to be concerned about the proposed changes to the Hastings Point Waste Water Treatment Plant.
This plant is over 40 years old and is failing.
The Tweed Shire Council is planning a $40 million refit, however this proposal fails to address the core problems.
How you can help.
Petition board are being placed in all the shops in Pottsville, Hastings Point and Bogangar/Cabarita for you to sign to show your support.
Petition tables will be in front of IGA Pottsville and Woolworths at Cabarita every Saturday up to end of February to gather as many signatures as possible, to then be presented to the Tweed Shire Councillors to show that the residents deserve and demand better than what they are proposing.
Attached is additional information explaining the background, proposed options, and what the community wants.

This project is in process albeit a long one due to community feedback, location, design and funding.
The community, PCA and Tweed Shire Council have secured this property for a high school for Pottsville. Now that the Labor Government won the election the Minister for Education Prue Car is in the process of getting the project completed.
This project is a collaboration between the PCA, Tweed Coast Youth Service, Tweed Shire Council, St Ambrose School and Community Services.
